2 week residency in the ex carcel of Valparaiso, Chile. January 2003
During one day, I sat in the solitary confinement cell with no sound or light.
At sunset
The walls of the cell are covered in magazine cut outs of naked women, the floor is dirty. The bald woman in the red polka dot dress stands close to the wall, head turned away. She is unzipping her dress while the late afternoon sun illuminates her bare back.
At Sunrise
The walls of the cell are covered in passages from the bible written in blue. Facing you, a bald woman in a polka dot dress stands on her toes offering with outstretched arms, a glass of milk. The early morning sun streams through the window behind, casting a halo of light around her head.
