Timespan is an arts and heritage centre in the village of Helmsdale on the North East coast of Sutherland. My reisdency there was two fold, allowing me to develop my own practice and lead the centre’s first youth arts programme, OURS.
OURS was designed to engage and develop long-term relationships with young people who have limited access to artists or galleries in this remote area ; supporting them in developing and managing their own projects. Over the course of the two years, I led nearly 300 participants in 8 communities across the county of Sutherland in the OURS youth arts project, facilitating their interaction with over 50 artists from the UK and abroad through trips, events, workshops and apprenticeships.
To see what the group got up to, please see their blog.
OURS was made possible through the support of : The Paul Hamlyn Foundation and The Scottish Arts Council’s partners programme.
